A Letter from the Founder
When I first stepped onto the property my partner and I purchased for our family, a home for us and our children, I felt something I had not felt in a long time: solid ground and peace. In that moment, standing there, I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be. I had recently moved from Canada, and that feeling of stability gave me the strength and clarity to begin building a new life in California with confidence and purpose.
I named that property Solterra, and by extension, this foundation carries the same name. To me, Solterra represents more than a place, it represents foundation, warmth, and growth. It symbolizes what happens when you finally feel grounded enough to move forward without fear. That personal moment of stability inspired a broader realization: every child deserves the chance to feel that same sense of footing in their life, regardless of where they start.
Solterra Foundation was created from the belief that a child’s starting point should not determine their destination. Many young people face barriers that have nothing to do with intelligence, ambition, or work ethic. Lack of resources, limited exposure to professional environments, and financial constraints can quietly close doors before a child even knows they exist. These barriers are real — but they are also solvable.
Our mission is to provide practical, meaningful support that changes trajectories. We focus on three core areas: access to school supplies and educational resources, mentorship and exposure to professional workplaces, and scholarships for first-generation college students. These are not symbolic gestures. They are tangible tools that build confidence, capability, and opportunity.
There is a powerful shift that happens when a young person walks into an office for the first time, meets professionals who take the time to listen, starts the school year prepared instead of anxious, or realizes that college is financially possible. Those moments can redefine self-belief. Solterra Foundation exists to create those moments intentionally and responsibly.
Our approach is grounded in dignity, transparency, and impact. We believe in empowerment, not dependency; access, not charity; and programs that create real, measurable change. Solterra is about giving young people the footing they need so they can build futures that are strong, independent, and full of possibility.
For me, Solterra began with the feeling of standing on solid ground. Today, it is about helping others find theirs.
